How does a volunteer signup/cancel/or change my registration for a volunteer shift or opportunity?

Looking to sign up, cancel, or change your registration for opportunities on POINT? See the different ways you can sign up below!

How a volunteer signs up for an opportunity: 

From the Volunteer Dashboard on the Web (see video below):

  1. Create a POINT Account. We'll ask you to verify your email to make sure you're not a scammer.

Tip: Next, we suggest to "Join" a nonprofit on POINT, to make finding their events easier. 
From the web:
 
1. On the "Home" page, search for an organization under the section "Join Organization" OR from the left side menu Select "Account" and then "Your organizations" 
2. Either accept an invite the organization has sent you by clicking the "Accept" button or ask to join the organization by searching for the nonprofit by name, and clicking the button "Join". *It could take some time for the admin to approve your request* 

2. Select "Volunteer" in the left side menu and find the event you want to sign up for. Can't find the event you're looking for?

3.Once you click on an event, select the orange “Go” button on the top right hand corner where it says “Sign Up to Volunteer”. 

4.  If there are multiple shifts - still hit the "Go" Button and then select the shift you want to volunteer for and then “next”. 

5."Confirm" your registration on the next screen.

  1.  Download our app on Apple or Android and Create a POINT Account. We'll ask you to verify your email to make sure you're not a scammer.

From the Mobile App: 
1. On the "volunteer" tab  search for an organization under the search bar "Search organizations to join OR from the left side menu Select "Account" and then "My organizations" 
2. Either accept an invite the organization has sent you by clicking the "Accept" button or ask to join the organization by searching for the nonprofit by name, and clicking the button "Join".*It could take some time for the admin to approve your request*

2. Select "Volunteer" in the left side menu and find the event you want to sign up for either under "My Orgs" or on the "Near Me" tab.  Can't find the event you're looking for?

3. Once you click on an event, select the orange “Go” button at the button of the page after reading through the opportunity details. 

4.  If there are multiple shifts - still hit the "Go" Button and then select the shift you want to volunteer for and then “next”. 

5. Confirm" your registration on the next screen. 

Note: When you confirm take a look at the "Volunteer Check List" for that event. Keep an eye out on your email in case the Volunteer Coordinator emails you to complete items on the check list before volunteering. Or if you signed up for an event requiring a background check look out for an email from Checkr. 

From the Volunteer App:

From a Nonprofit Webpage:

  1. If the nonprofit has the POINT integration on their website, first click on the event you want to go to.
  2. Once you tap on an event, select the orange “Go” button, If there are multiple shifts - still hit the "Go" Button and then select the shift you want to volunteer for and then “next” and “confirm”.
  3.  If you don't have a POINT account, scroll down to the bottom of the pop up and click "Create Account" or we'll ask you to sign in 

Note: After you create an account - We'll ask you to verify your email to make sure you're not a scammer before you complete your signup registration. 

4. "Confirm" your registration on the next screen. 

Note: When you confirm take a look at the "Volunteer Check List" for that event. Keep an eye out on your email in case the Volunteer Coordinator emails you to complete items on the check list before volunteering. Or if you signed up for an event requiring a background check look out for an email from Checkr.

How to cancel for a volunteer opportunity:

From the web (see video below):

  1. Go to the "My Registrations" in your volunteer dashboard.
  2. Find the opportunity that you need to cancel for and then click on it.
  3. On the right hand side, select the "Cancel" button. If you signed up for a specific shift, you'll be able to select the shift you need to cancel for and then hit the orange "Next" button. 
  4. If this is an ongoing opportunity, select the dates you need to cancel for or if you need to cancel for all, click on "Select All" and then "Next".
  5. This will take you to a the cancellation page where you can add the reason why you are cancelling . Then click "Confirm" and you're all set!

  1. In the mobile app go to "My Registrations" and click on the opportunity you want to cancel for.
  2. In the event, click on where it says "You're Going". The shift you're signed up for will appear where you can select and then click "Next".
  3. Finally, the Cancellation confirmation page will appear, where you can put in the reason for your cancellation and then the "Confirm" button. 
  4. The last page will say " You have officially canceled".

How to change my registration for a volunteer opportunity:

To change your registration for an opportunity, follow the instructions above to cancel your current shift or registration. Once that’s done, you can sign up for the new opportunity as usual.
