How do you add and delete an organization's cause?

If you need to update or change the causes associated with your organization, here's how you can edit them on POINT.

POINT’s causes are based on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. POINT chose these broad categories to unite communities around these worldwide goals.

How to add organization's causes (see video below)? 

1. To add the causes your organization represents, go to "Profile" on the dashboard sidebar, then click the small pencil icon in the upper right-hand corner.
2. Add the causes your organization focuses on the most. Don’t worry—you can always add or update causes based on the specific events you're supporting.

1. To edit the causes your organization represents, go to "Profile" on the dashboard sidebar, then click the small pencil icon in the upper right-hand corner.
2. Deselect any causes you no longer need, and don't forget to click "Save" at the bottom to update your changes.

These are the descriptions volunteers see on the app when deciding which causes to follow:

 

Animals
Protect and support the wellbeing of pets and wildlife. Follow this cause and you could volunteer at animal shelters or promote wildlife preservation.

 

Health
Promote healthy living and disease reduction through prevention, treatment, and research. Follow this cause and you could volunteer to help patients at hospitals, support school programs to promote health habits, or increase cancer awareness.

 

Food
Promote food security by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices. Follow this cause and you could educate communities about conservation and sustainable agriculture, or participate in your local urban gardening initiative.

 

Equality
Empower disadvantaged and underrepresented groups to achieve equality. Follow this cause and you could volunteer at girls-in-tech events or provide computers for low income students.

 

Water & Sanitation
Secure the universal availability and sustainability of clean and safe water. Follow this cause and you could attend events to educate others about sanitation or distribute low-cost water filtration devices.

 

Refugees
Promote the safety and well-being of refugees by helping them access medical resources, education, and employment opportunities. Follow this cause and you could partner with refugee advocacy groups to provide housing resources or tutor English.

 

Homeless
Transform cities to be inclusive, safe, and capable of helping those in need. Follow this cause and you could volunteer at homeless shelters, help connect individuals to needed resources, or volunteer at a food bank.

 

Consumption
Encourage sustainable consumption of natural resources. Follow this cause and you could support zero waste initiatives or launch or join a recycling program.

 

Jobs
Support jobseekers and entrepreneurs. Follow this cause and you could have the opportunity to donate business wear (ex. suits), or host vocational training programs for the unemployed.

 

Community Development
Provide lasting infrastructure for families and communities. Follow this cause and you could help build homes in your area or petition to increase public transit.

 

Poverty
Support communities through poverty alleviation. Follow this cause and you could help to increase financial literacy or help organizations that provide microloans.

 

Energy
Implement sustainable energy solutions. Follow this cause and you could promote energy efficiency programs or support renewable energy efforts in your area.

 

Arts and Culture
Promote culture and arts at home, in schools, and in communities. Follow this cause and you could volunteer at museums, teach in art programs or volunteer at cultural clubs.

 

Climate
Combat climate change to decrease extreme weather patterns, rising sea levels and temperatures. Follow this cause and you could support energy efficiency, work to encourage consumers to reduce fossil fuel consumption, and more.

 

Conservation
Protect, restore, and educate communities about aquatic and land environments. Follow this cause and you could clean up lakes and ponds, help plant trees in your community, or garden at an urban farm.

 

Peace & Justice
Advocate for inclusive, peaceful societies that provide access to justice for all. Follow this cause and you could increase awareness of human trafficking or assist organizations to provide legal services.

Family
Support the changing needs of families in communities. Follow this cause and you could volunteer at youth clubs, assist in senior living centers, or provide support for new mothers.

Crisis
Provide relief in the event of natural disasters and other emergencies. Follow this cause and you could create care packages, rebuild homes and have many other opportunities to help.

Education
Increase educational opportunities for all. Follow this cause and you could volunteer with local students, help build schools or fund education programs.

Religious
Partner with ministry organizations of all faiths to serve the community. Follow this cause to volunteer with churches, community faith centers, and religious youth programs.
