Watch the video below, or follow the steps underneath. ### Step by step **1. Start a new event.** From your homepage, go to **Opportunities**, then **Manage Events**, and click **Create Event**. **2. Name your event.** Keep it short, start with a verb, and say who’s being helped. “Teach Kids Soccer Skills” will get more signups than “Columbus Soccer Clinic.” **3. Add your causes.** Pick the causes your event supports. This is how new volunteers find you on POINT. **4. Add a host.** Under **Hosts**, add the person volunteers should contact with questions. Include a name and email, and a phone number if you’d like. **5. Upload a photo.** This is the first thing volunteers see, so choose a good shot from a past event. Photos of your volunteers in action work best. Skip anything with logos, text, or a white background. **6. Describe the event.** Tell volunteers why the event matters, what they’ll be doing, and what to bring or wear. Everything they need to know lives on the event page, so they show up ready. **7. Choose in person or virtual.** For in-person events, add the address and any tips for finding you, like “park in the lot on 3rd Street” or “enter through the side door.” **8. Set the date and time.** Have a long day? Break it into shifts, like a morning and an afternoon, or two different jobs such as packing groceries and greeting guests. Each shift gets its own time and number of spots. **9. Decide who can see it.** - **Public events** are visible to anyone on POINT. They’re a great way to bring in new faces. - **Private events** are only visible to volunteers who’ve joined your organization. They’re perfect for roles that need vetting, like grocery delivery drivers. **10. Add requirements, if you need them.** You can set a minimum age or other requirements. You’ll also see a few optional settings. Skip those for now and come back anytime. **11. Publish.** Click **Publish** and your event is live. Use the **Share** button to email it to your volunteers, post it on social media, or add it to your website. ### Quick tips for more signups - Lead your event name with a verb. - Use a real photo of volunteers at work. - Put the practical details in the description: what to bring, what to wear, where to park. - Split long days into shifts so people can sign up for the time that works for them. ### Ready to go?
