# How to set up the Double the Donation integration

## Connect your Double the Donation account to POINT so volunteers can find out if their employer offers volunteer grants or volunteer time off.

**What the Double the Donation integration does** 

Double the Donation helps volunteers find out if their employer offers volunteer grants or volunteer time off (VTO). Many companies donate to nonprofits when their employees volunteer, or give employees paid time off to volunteer.

When you connect Double the Donation to POINT:

- Volunteers see an optional Employer search field when they sign up for your events.
- After signing up, volunteers see their employer’s volunteer program details, such as hours offered, grant amounts, and a link to the company’s volunteer grant form, if available.
- POINT sends volunteer registrations to your Double the Donation account, so you can follow up with volunteers about their employer programs.

**Before you start** 

To use this integration, you need a Double the Donation Volunteering account. If you don’t have one yet, go to [https://doublethedonation.com/members/login/](https://doublethedonation.com/members/login/) to create an account or schedule a demo [https://doublethedonation.com/get-a-demo/](https://doublethedonation.com/get-a-demo/), then return to POINT to set up the integration.

**How to find your API keys in Double the Donation** 

1. Go to [https://doublethedonation.com/](https://doublethedonation.com/) and log in to your account.
2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
3. Under Organization Settings, click API Keys.
4. Copy your Public Key and Private Key

**How to connect Double the Donation in POINT** 

1. Sign in to the POINT Admin Dashboard.
2. In the left sidebar, click Integrations.
3. Find the Double the Donation card and click Connect.

4. In the Connect Your Account section, paste your Public Key and Private Key.
5. Click Save.

POINT checks your keys with Double the Donation. If the keys are correct, the page shows the date the integration was connected, and the Double the Donation card on the Integrations page shows View instead of Connect.

If POINT can’t verify your keys, you’ll see an error message, and the keys won’t be saved. Check that you copied both keys correctly and try again.

📝 Note: once connected, the Employer search field appears on sign-up forms for all events in your organization.

**What volunteers see when they sign up**

On the last step of the sign-up form, Confirmation, volunteers see an optional Employer section with this text: “Many companies donate to nonprofits when their employees volunteer. Search for your employer to see if your time can earn a grant for \[your organization\].”

Volunteers can:

- Start typing their company name and choose it from the suggestions.
- Click Select a different company to change their choice.
- Skip this section and click Confirm. The Employer field is never required.

Employer program details after sign-up

After the volunteer clicks Confirm, the success screen shows “You’re signed up to volunteer!” along with their employer’s program details, provided by Double the Donation. Depending on the company, this can include:

- Whether the company offers corporate volunteering, volunteer grants, or volunteer time off.
- Program guidelines, such as the number of hours offered.
- A Go to Volunteer Grant Form button, if the company has a form.
- A link to the full program guidelines.
- Company contact information.

If the volunteer picked the wrong company, they can click Search again and choose a different one.

If the volunteer didn’t select an employer on the sign-up form, the success screen shows an employer search field, so they can look up their company there.

What if company information is wrong?

Volunteers can click “See anything that should be changed? Let us know!” to email the Double the Donation team. Company data is managed by Double the Donation, not POINT.

**What information POINT sends to Double the Donation**

For each volunteer registration, POINT sends:

- Volunteer’s first and last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Event name (shown as Campaign in Double the Donation)
- Event date
- Registration date
- Employer, if the volunteer selected one
- Registration ID

If a volunteer changes their employer on the success screen, Double the Donation updates the same registration. No duplicate is created.

**How to view volunteer registrations in Double the Donation**

1. Log in to your Double the Donation account.
2. Open the Registrations page: [https://doublethedonation.com/members/#/vh/registrations](https://doublethedonation.com/members/#/vh/registrations)

Registrations from POINT show the event name in the Campaign column and POINT in the Source column. Click a registration to see the volunteer’s details, employer, and volunteer grant status.

Use the filters to find volunteers who haven’t identified their employer yet, so you can follow up with them about their company’s volunteer programs.

**How to update or disconnect the integration** 

To update your keys, go to Integrations, click View on the Double the Donation card, paste your new keys, and click Save. The page shows when the keys were last updated and by whom.

To disconnect, click Disconnect on the same page. The Employer search field will no longer appear on your sign-up forms.

**FAQs** 

1. **Do I need accounts on both POINT and Double the Donation?**  
   Yes. Employer program data and volunteer follow-up are managed in Double the Donation, and your events and volunteers are managed in POINT.
2. **Is the Employer field required for volunteers?**  
   No. Volunteers can sign up without selecting an employer.
3. **Does the integration work in the POINT mobile app?**  
   Yes. Volunteers see the same Employer search and employer program details in the mobile app.
4. **Can I turn on the integration only for some events?**  
   No. Once connected, the Employer search appears on sign-up forms for all events in your organization.
